Schroeder, Tilton-McCarthy Lead at Howdy Du

The Houston Striders' Bill Schroeder and the Al Lawrence Running Club's Lisa Tilton-McCarthy were the fastest HARRA members to finish Sunday's Howdy Du Duathlon at Berry Springs Park near Georgetown. The Howdy Du Duathlon is the second race in RunFAR's Central Texas Duathlon Series.

Schroeder, 46, was the second fastest masters male to complete the 3-mile run, 17-mile bike and 3-mile run course in 1:28:03, just 65 seconds behind Austin's Jeffrey Stuesser. He was also 9th overall while Finish Line Sports' Walt Yarrow, 41, was three spots behind in 12th in 1:29:33.

Tilton-McCarthy, 41, a week removed from a disappointing 5:51:31 Buffalo Springs Lake Ironman 70.3 finish, rebounded Sunday to finish third overall - and the second masters finisher - in 1:34:15.

Schroeder, who maintains a home in Round Rock, was fourth overall in the first race of the Duathlon Series - the Dad's Day Du - in Leander on Father's Day, Sunday, June 15. His 57:10 performance on the 2-mile run, 10-mile bike and 2-mile run course was just 32 seconds out of third in addition to being the top masters finisher.
