Ten For Texas Event Press Release

From The Ten For Texas Race Committee,

The good news is THE RACE IS ON! The disappointing news is the race has been moved to Saturday, November 15.

While we all hoped that 10 FOR TEXAS could go on as scheduled, safety and route access issues relating to the seven-days-a-week, 12-hours-a-day debris cleanup along the streets, major thoroughfares and by-ways of The Woodlands, has prohibited our use of the race course.

Registrations continue to flow in, and because of the disruptions caused by Hurricane Ike, the Race Committee has decided to keep the cost of registration at $45 until race day. Race day registration will remain at $60. No changes have been made to the fees for the inaugural ONE 4 TEXAS Kids’ Fun Run.

One change that has been made will be the use of the “D” Timing Tag. This disposable timing tag, which is used for scoring the race, will be attached to your bib number. Use of this new and proven system eliminates the need for separate chip pickup and collection at the end of the race.

Remember, the race will be held Saturday, November 15, and features a USA Track & Field certified 10-mile course within The Woodlands. The race begins and ends at Central Park in Market Street, site of the post-race awards party featuring the Nigel Edison Band. This will also be the first year for ONE 4 TEXAS, a non-competitive fun run for kids ages 5-12 designed to promote fun and fitness for kids of all abilities.

NOTE: The Race Committee, in conjunction with Interfaith of The Woodlands, would like to collect non-perishable food items to restock food pantries. Collection barrels will be located in and around all of the race’s parking areas and bag drop area. Participants are encouraged to donate.

10 FOR TEXAS supports the trend of reducing the environmental impact of running events. From recycling waste to utilizing environmentally-friendly supplies to urging participants to car pool to the event, it is our aim to consider the environment in all aspects of our event.
