Present: Joe Sellers, John Phillips, Shawn Smith, Tom Woltz, Bob Hoekman, Camille Yarbrough, Chuck Cofer, Annie Hadow, Liz Bearman, Steve Shepard, Nancy Kral, Roger Boak, Randy Carlson Mercedes Tarley and Donna Sellers

Meeting began at 6:08 pm

December meeting minutes accepted.

Chuck had designed a HARRA graph showing income and expenses. This will be put in Footnotes by Tomnext to sign up applications.
Dec. Income : equip. rental $1,200.00.
Expense: race fees , Student Runs $1,700.00.
-$5,300.00 year end figure.

There is a type-o in the Income/Expense account handout: 1999 total expense is really $88,553.00.

PIM records will be given to Chuck to go overto clear up financial redcords as propsed by Steve.

Texas State sales tax was paid.

Roger downloaded the Marathon results to the Website. There was a request for all running clubs to give Roger a list of those members who ran in the Houston marathon and did not receive a towel. They also could call the HARRA hotline or e-mail Roger.

Camille spoke about the Spring Challenge Race Series. Posters have been placed in running stores and Memorial Park with announcements for Party in the Park. There is an ad in Runner's Triathlete news for March. Volunteering is an option.

Party in the Park headed by Camille, will have sign up for all Spring Series races on Feb. 17, 2001 at Memorial Park.

Some sponsors: Mission Burrito, St. Arnold's, Sparklette's

*All clubs need to be informed to set up tents.

Tom stated Footnotes deadline is March 9, 2001 for the April/May issue.

New e-mail for Tom is tomwoltzr@yahoo.com. Cell # 281 381-7645. Next issue to be out between Feb. 9-13th.

Annie will update mambership report due to renewal period. Renewal until the end of January will count towards the Marathon. Roger will e-mail groups to sign up by Sat. 1-20-01. Approx. 1,000 members. Footnote Marathon issues will be available for those signing up late.

Liz stated that the Garden in the Heights is secured for the June 16, 2001 spring banquet. Request made for volunteers to work on the banquet. Asked for the word to be spread to the different running groups.

Rosemary was not present at this meeting.

Shawn reported on Students Run Houston. 73 kids helped at mile 3 and 23 at the Houston Marathon. 80 pairs of shoes purchased and given to the kids after the marathon, thru Run Sport. at $23-$25 ea pair.

The program is going well. 82 kids ran the Jingle Bell Run. With volunteering adults, there were 100 who actually attended. Museum of Fine Arts 5K is next on the program. With at least 50 free entries for the kids.

E-mail to be generated to announce how Conoco sponsors kids groups.

Fine Arts would like to be promoted. This will be done over e-mail . There will also be a note in the e-mail to remind members to renew HARRA.

John Shepherd not present.

Steve announced that the PIM coaches are in place. Friends of Scleroderma Race is the next targeted race on 4-29-01. @ Bear Creek Park. There were 250 students last spring. Hopes are to meet that number this year.

Tom not present but had asked Joe to request to the board that out-of town rentals for race equipment from HARRA be approved and this was accepted.

Bob announced next CPR course is 1st week in Feb. on Sat. Feb. 3rd. 2001. AED course is for Jan. 25,2001. He has two openings. Bob is retiring in March. He will be leaving Houston for Washington,but will be available for the races. He asked if Duke Energy building could be used for future coursed as he will no longer have use of his office after March 1, 2001.

New Business: Still need a new HARRA Banner. Joe will speak with Luke's Locker who may help financially.

Miscellaneous: Randy Carlson informed the board that the HARRA member hit by a car a few months ago while running is in rehab and doing well. Flowers will be sent by HARRA and Randy will take care of this. HARRA will also provide her with a cpmplimentary 1 year membership so that she can stay in touch with the runnign community while recooperating.

Also, holiday fruit baskets were delivered as thank you's to area gas stations, etc, which help our runners with acces to drinking water, etc.

Nancy asked for space in Footprints to advertise kids runs.

Camille proposed a calendar be provided and maintained. To be e-mailed to all members. to remind of pertinent issues.

It was porposed to have an "over-sight" committee . Will be discussed at next meeting. This would be to govern monies handled by HARRA board members.
