MINUTES FROM THE HOUSTON AREA ROAD RUNNERS ASSOCIATION BOARD MEETING
DECEMBER 17, 2007
The meeting was held at Star Pizza, 3600 Washington Ave.
The following people were in attendance: Anna Helm, JoAnn Luco, Jennifer Brown, Chris Rampacek, Stephen Mayor, Audrey Christiansen, Terry Johnson, Tom McBrayer, Mary Anne McBrayer, Ann Hibbert, Annie Hadow and Roger Boak.
Anna called the meeting to order at 6:05 P.M.
The first item of business was the HARRA Booth at the Marathon Expo. We need volunteers. Anna will circulate a sign up sheet shortly.
Race Recap:
30K: It was noted that there were some small issues with the mile markers. Tom added that Lakes at Williams Ranch will return as the event sponsor in 2008.
Just for Kids’ Run: Anna proposed that we look into having a rain date next year. Chris agreed to check with the Parks people to see if it’s possible. As a follow up, we will need to check with the equipment providers, face painters etc. if a rain date is possible through the Park. All agreed that we need to promote the race earlier and more.
Footprints: no update
Membership: Anna reported for Erin. We currently have 1400 members. Erin has identified some limitations with Memberize. Adding families is labor intensive for users, so we may not be getting all family members accounted for if a user is renewing or adding family members.
Treasurer’s Report: Audrey noted that she has paid most of the Kids’ Run expenses for a total of about $3800 so far, with a few more to be paid out. We have collected the runner’s tax for all of the fall series races to date. Our RRCA dues payment is coming up.
Website: no update. Annie asked about when the historical ROTS information will be added. Mary Anne requested that the Warm Up Series mug distribution information be added to the HARRA website. It is currently posted on the Houston Masters website so Sarah can get the information there. Anna will contact Sarah about these two items.
Tour de Bayou/ Trails/ Ironfoot: Roger mentioned that he has about 1/3 of the finisher’s towels from last year’s marathon. He will bring them to the HARRA Booth at the Marathon Expo for distribution. Roger will check with John Shepperd about the Ironfoot sock inventory and will research getting singlets as the next award.
CPR/AED: no report
Open Discussion:
Pavers: to be tabled until January meeting
Data Meeting – upcoming: This will be a brainstorming meeting to determine how to get the ROTS data out more quickly and efficiently.
There was no additional business to discuss. Anna adjourned the meeting at 7:10.
