The following people were in attendance: Jennifer Brown, Ann Hibbert, Audrey Christiansen, Erin Foley, Tom McBrayer, Bruce Mansur, Gloria Mansur, Denise Furlough, Anna Helm, Debbie Goldberg Merch, Patty Chesnick, Bob Hoekman, Joe Sellers, JoAnn Luco, Hope Sellers, Roger Boak, Randy Carlson, Annie Hadow, and Steve Costello.
Anna called the meeting to order at
Park to Park Run: Denise demonstrated that the Park to Park Run is prepared to meet the HARRA race requirements. It was noted that the run should include HARRA in their liability waiver in the future.
Relay Race Requirements: Anna announced that the race requirements for HARRA relays have been finalized and will be posted on the HARRA website soon.
Pavers: Anna noted that we had received a preliminary quote of $4,900 for the pavers at the park. The Board discussed the issue and wanted to know if a cost comparison had been made. Randy will clarify.
Memorial Park Master Plan: Steve Costello, Chairman of the Memorial Park Conservancy, addressed the Board about the status of the Memorial Park Master Plan. Highlighted upcoming projects will include a new runner’s complex, trail improvements, and the pedestrian/ bicycle bridge at the west end of the park. Mayor White will be holding a press conference on Tuesday, February 19, to kick off a new $10 Million capital campaign to fund the projects. Steve requested participation from HARRA in the form of a financial commitment as well as HARRA Board presence at the press conference.
Steve departed the meeting. The Board discussed the pledge. Roger moved that HARRA give $25,000 to the capital campaign. Annie seconded the motion. The Board approved the donation.
Family Fun Day in the Park: Anna discussed the upcoming Family Fun Day in the Park. The Board agreed on the date of April 26, with April 12 as backup, pending park availability.
CPR/AED: Bob is completing training for team members for the Spring Series. Bob also mentioned that he had been contacted by Jon Walk regarding proposed placement of an advertisement for a medical product adjacent to Bob’s Footprints column in an upcoming issue. The Board discussed the situation. As Editor of Inside Texas Running, Lance Phegley is in charge of the magazine layout, which includes ad placement. Bob, Jon, and Lance agreed that a disclaimer indicating that Dr. Hoekman does not endorse any product will be included in the future.
Footprints: Anna reported for Jon that he is putting the finishing touches on the March issue. The feature article will be about Sara Collazos, who is running April’s Boston Marathon at the age of 18.
HARRA Buys You Lunch: Anna requested that we continue the HARRA Buys You Lunch program again this year. Program should kick off with the Family Fun Day in the Park. The Board approved.
Membership:
Treasurer’s Report: Audrey reported that activity was light in January. We took in about $2,000 in membership money and issued about $3,000 in ROTS checks in early February.

Tour de Bayou/ Trails: Roger announced that he is finalizing the Fall Ironfoot list. He is looking into awards for future seasons and may recruit a committee to select singlets.
PIM: Anna reported for Jack. Rich Siemens is heading up a publicity committee. 10-25 people are showing up for off season runs. Jack is looking for new ideas for how to promote PIM and would welcome input.
VVIP: Bruce reported that he already has the volunteer list from the Buffalo Wallow. He has the wheels in motion to get same from the Park to Park Run and the Bayou City Classic.
Member Discount Program: Gloria reported that we didn’t add any new businesses in January.
Club Updates:
JoAnn announced that HMSA has a team entered in the upcoming Texas Independence Relay. Audrey added that Finish Line has one also.
Anna announced that the next meeting will be held on March 24, due to Spring Break.
There was no further business to discuss. Anna adjourned the meeting at 8 PM.
