The meeting was held at Star Pizza, 77 Harvard.
The following people were in attendance: Anna Helm, Annie Hadow, Audrey Christiansen, Terry Johnson, Ann Hibbert, Tom McBrayer, Jay Hendrickson, Roger Boak, JoAnn Luco, Erin Foley, John Phillips, Eddie Rodriguez, Jen Brown, and Julie Garcia.
Anna called the meeting to order at 6PM.
30K Recap: all agreed that everything appeared to go smoothly.
Just For Kids’ Run Recap: The Board discussed and made the following suggestions for next year: have a banner with no year made, indicate on the entry form that t-shirts are not guaranteed for race day registrants, confirm medical staff, delegate volunteers for Boat Shed duty so it’s not the same people going out to the Boat Shed every time. Julie recommended having better marketing/ flier distribution and better organization at race day registration.
Footprints: Anna reviewed the report Jon e-mailed to the Board. The January issue will feature the local invited runners for the Houston Marathon as well as Dr. Bob’s article “Does Endurance Running Cause Deep Vein Thrombosis?”. There are several club reports and pictures from the Just for Kids’ Run and there will be Sunmart coverage. The February issue will include an article on IT Band Syndrome from Dr. Bob., as well as coverage of the Lakes of Williams Ranch 30K and the ROTS standings if they are updated. Jon has gotten HARRA set up on Facebook and plans to focus on that and keeping the HARRA and Chronicle blogs updated in 2009.
Membership: Anna presented the information Helen submitted via e-mail. We currently have 1404 active members, 924 of whom are affiliated with a HARRA club. Registration and renewal activity has slowed down in the past few weeks, allowing Helen the opportunity to do some administrative cleanup leading into the new year and race season.
Treasurer’s Report: Audrey reported that there were large expenses in November for PIM and the Just for Kids’ Run. The next large expense will be to RRCA. Audrey raised that there are several clubs who have not responded to invoices or inquiries about their intent to be HARRA affiliated clubs in future seasons. The Board discussed a letter Audrey drafted to send to affected clubs.
Website: Jay
reported that the ROTS and Team standings though the 25K are up on the website.
Jay has created a “Places to Run & Daily Group Runs” page under Running in
Runner of the Season: Roger advised that he is caught up through the 25K. He is still waiting on the results of the XC Relay from the Tornados. Jen agreed to get the results to Roger.
PIM: No report.
VVIP: No report. Anna mentioned that Bruce is still waiting on volunteer list from the XC Relay.
CPR/AED: Anna presented for Bob, who submitted his report via e-mail. There were no problems medically at the 30K. The Sokolows were in charge of the CPR/AED team at the race. Bob noted the death of the 29 year old female runner at the Dallas White Rock Marathon yesterday. The news reports indicate there was no defibrillator readily available although prolonged CPR was done until an ambulance did finally arrive.

There was no additional business to discuss. Anna adjourned the meeting at 7:15.
