MINUTES FROM THE HOUSTON AREA ROAD RUNNERS ASSOCIATION BOARD MEETING

NOVEMBER 16, 2009

 

The following people were in attendance: Roger Boak, Mark Fraser, Andy Stewart, Tom McBrayer, Ron Morgan, Jay Hendrickson,  ??, Jen Brown, Keith Willhelm, JoAnn Luco, Audrey Christiansen, Joe Carey, Helen Grant, Lisa Foronda, and Annie Hadow.

 

Ron called the meeting to order at 6PM.

 

The Board approved the October minutes.

 

Fall Series:

30K: Andy demonstrated that his race is prepared to meet the HARRA race requirements. He is strictly enforcing the no headphones rule, primarily for runners’ safety. Additionally, bandits will be cited for theft of services.

 

Kids’ Run: Keith reported that things are coming together. We have police scheduled, t-shirts on order, as well as an inventory of bib #’s, and medals. Keith is finalizing permits this week. He is arranging porta potties. Keith will e-mail Ron race details so that Ron or Gabriel can circuilate an informational e-mail.

 

Membership: Helen and Lisa requested that we offer graduating PIM’sters a discounted HARRA membership. The Board discussed the idea, which resulted in Jen motioning that we allow a $5 discount for PIM members to join or renew a HARRA membership upon graduation. The Board approved the discount.

 

Marathon Expo: Ron queried to find out what the HARRA Board needs to do concerning voounteer coverage at the HARRA Booth at the Expo. It was suggested that he contact Gail Sabanosh, whos is coordinating the Bayou Classic side. Ron agreed to contact Gail to coordinate booth shifts.

 

Website: Jay advised that he deleted links to a few of the blogs which had been listed on the website because the blogs are private.

 

Footprints: No report.

 

Treasurer’s Report: Audrey reported that we had a loss of about $3,000 in October due to high expenses. We are down around $1,400 from July until now.

 

VVIP: Joe and Ron will investigate redistributing awards to reward high achievers more.

 

HARRA Clothing: No update. Link is not set up.

 

Ron announced that the dedication of the new Memorial Park footbridge over Memorial Drive is scheduled for December 1st at 10:30 AM.

 

December meeting to be held on December 14th at Star Pizza on Washington.

 

There was no further business to discuss. Ron adjourned the meeting at 7:15.
