Inclusion in the HARRA Race Calendar

Information Required

If you want your race or event listed on our calendar, send the following to the HARRA Webmaster. HARRA Race Calendar in the subject line would be a big help.

Please include in your email your name and relationship to the event, such as race director, sponsoring organization or race committee.

The location description above is directed to the runner. To evaluate whether your event meets our guidelines, please also indicate - if you are not in Houston and depending on the distance and location - the county, state and country where your event is being held.

Please submit your event well in advance; three months early would not be too soon. Generally, new races are added to the calendar on a weekly basis with an occasional week off for Christmas, the Houston Marathon, vacation ect.

If your event falls outside of the guidelines, and you are a HARRA member in our service area or we have listed your event on our calendar in the past, please so indicate.

Guidelines for Inclusion in the HARRA Calendar

Our goal at HARRA is to include all races within the Houston metro area on our calendar. We also want to include longer distance races that may be of interest to our membership including major international marathons. Tris, obstacle courses, ultras and other similar events are also welcome if they are of general interest to our members.

Our guidelines for inclusion vary depending on the distance of the race and location. London might be a great marathon destination but it is unlikely that anyone in Houston will travel there for a 5K. The table below gives the guidelines for the various distances:

We consider the Houston metro area to include Harris, Galveston, Brazoria, Fort Bend, Waller, Montgomery, Liberty and Chambers counties and the Houston service area to include those counties and any adjacent counties. Below is an alphabetized list of the counties in our service area:

There are some automatic exemptions to the guidelines. If your event has been on our calendar in the past, we’ll put you on it in the future to show some consistency to our members. Second, requests by HARRA members who live within our service area will be considered to satisfy our distance/location guidelines.
